Terms of Service

Effective Date: March 18, 2026
Last Modified: March 18, 2026

By using Tabularly.io, you're agreeing to these terms. We've kept them straightforward because we believe in transparency, not fine-print.

Tabularly is an independent, U.S.-based software product focused on local-first data analysis. These terms apply to your use of the Tabularly application and related services.

For details on how we handle privacy, see our privacy policy.

1. The "Local-First" Reality

Tabularly is a browser-based application powered by DuckDB-Wasm. You acknowledge and understand that:

  • We're not a storage provider: Your data is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB and localStorage.
  • Data Loss: If you clear your browser cache, your data in Tabularly will be lost. We can't recover it for you because we never have access to it.
  • Performance: App performance is dependent on your local hardware and browser. We're not responsible for crashes caused by attempting to process files that exceed your device's capabilities.

2. License & Payments

We offer a "Free" tier and paid "Pro" and "Team" plans.

  • One-Time Purchase: Our paid plans are one-time payments for a perpetual license. This is not a subscription, and there is no "kill switch" to disable your local workspace.
  • Usage Limits: We reserve the right to implement technical limits on the "Free" tier (e.g., file size limits or restricted catalog access) to encourage paid upgrades.
  • Perpetual Access: You may continue using the version of the software available at the time of your purchase indefinitely, even after any provided update windows have concluded.
  • Professional & Commercial Use: The Pro and Team plans are intended for personal and internal professional/business use. Only our "Custom Branded" offering grants a license for commercial redistribution or white-labeling.
  • Payments: We handle payments via Polar.sh. You agree to their terms regarding transaction security and tax.
  • Refunds: Refunds are handled according to the policies of our Merchant of Record, Polar.sh.

See our pricing page for more details.

3. Acceptable Use

Tabularly is a tool for data analysis (see our features page for details). You agree not to:

  • Attempt to reverse-engineer our application or bypass payment locks on features.
  • Use our remote catalog for data scraping, DOS attacks, or other malicious activities.
  • Use our free converter tools in an automated, high-volume "bot" fashion.

4. Intellectual Property

We own the code, the brand, and the design of Tabularly.io, which is built on DuckDB-Wasm.

You own 100% of the data you import and the SQL queries you write. We claim no ownership over your data, insights, queries, or results.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

Tabularly is provided "as is." We don't guarantee that the application will always be bug-free or meet your specific needs.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tabularly shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including loss of data or profits) arising out of your use of our application. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us.

7. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate your access to the paid features if you violate these terms. Since there's no subscription, you can stop using the service at any time by simply closing the tab.

8. Changes to Terms

As we add features, we may update these terms. We'll announce significant changes on this site.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of these terms shall be brought exclusively in the appropriate U.S. state or federal courts.
